vinyetista a la premsa londinenca i amb un gran nombre d\u2019albums al seu c\u00e0rrec, <b>Steven Appleby<\/b> s\u2019estrena com a novel\u00b7lista gr\u00e0fica amb <i>Dragman<\/i><b><i>. <\/i><\/b>Aquesta \u00e9s una hist\u00f2ria sobre superherois, armaris i secrets; sobre assassinats i l\u2019\u00e0nima humana. Publicat originalment el 2020, l\u2019Editorial Finestres ens ha portat (aquest juny de 2022) una cuidada edici\u00f3 d\u2019aquest c\u00f2mic delicat i costumista.<\/p><p>Un dia, l\u2019August Crimp va trobar unes mitges i se les va posar. <strong>Aquell experiment li va revelar dues noves: que li agradava vestir-se de dona, i que all\u00f2 li permetia <\/strong><b>volar<\/b>. Aquests dos factors, combinats, el van dur a convertir-se en Dragman, una superhero\u00efna. Per\u00f2 per raons del dest\u00ed decideix abandonar totes dues coses i forma una familia amb Mary Mary. Anys m\u00e9s tard un assass\u00ed de dones trans* assola Londres, i Dog Girl, l\u2019antiga companya superhero\u00efna de Dragman, l\u2019arrossega de nou cap a l\u2019uniforme.<\/p><p>Tot i que a <i>Dragman<\/i> hi han assassinats, superherois, compradors d\u2019\u00e0nimes i artefactes de ci\u00e8ncia-ficci\u00f3, <strong>aquesta novel\u00b7la gr\u00e0fica \u00e9s, sobretot, la<\/strong>\u00a0<b>hist\u00f2ria d\u2019August Crimp<\/b>. Contada amb un dibuix senzill i molt expressiu, <strong>seguim les perip\u00e8cies d\u2019un home que resulta que, a estones, \u00e9s una superhero\u00efna<\/strong>. A trav\u00e9s d\u2019una estructura que alterna vinyetes i text, diferents punts de vista, i la combinaci\u00f3 de present i passat, anem entenent els factors que han fet d\u2019August Crimp qui \u00e9s: <b>una superhero\u00efna i un travestit que viuen dins l\u2019armari<\/b>. I poc a poc es desenvolupa la ra\u00f3 per la qual aquestes dues personalitats (que s\u00f3n una) fa temps que s&#8217;amaguen dins de capses a l\u2019altell.<\/p><p>A trav\u00e9s de la seva hist\u00f2ria descobrim un m\u00f3n que \u00e9s com el nostre, per\u00f2 lleugerament diferent: els superherois amb poders existeixen, i tamb\u00e9 s\u2019ha descobert l\u2019\u00e0nima humana. En la literatura fant\u00e0stica sovint trobem aquests elements com a motors de la fantasia i la il\u00b7lusi\u00f3, per\u00f2 la prosa d\u2019Appleby els enfoca des de la vessant m\u00e9s costumista i realista. En el present d\u2019August Crimp <b>el capitalisme neoliberal ha fagocitat totes dues coses<\/b>. Per una banda, els superherois formen part d\u2019una asseguradora que nom\u00e9s salvar\u00e0 aquells qui paguin la quota. Per altra banda, per uns quants calers \u00e9s possible vendre\u2019s l\u2019\u00e0nima\u2026 tot i que aix\u00f2 comporta la p\u00e8rdua de la ill\u00b7usi\u00f3 i les ganes de viure. <strong>A les vinyetes d\u2019Appleby la realitat i la burocr\u00e0cia s\u2019han cruspit la m\u00e0gia.<\/strong><\/p><p>Aix\u00ed, ens trobem davant d\u2019un c\u00f2mic que, per <b>la lleugeresa i costumisme del seu to<\/b>, tracta temes profunds de manera molt senzilla. Tot i que el seu protagonista \u00e9s una superhero\u00efna, amb prou feines hi ha escenes d\u2019acci\u00f3. Per altra banda, <b>el travestisme i la flu\u00efdesa de g\u00e8nere<\/b> s\u00f3n tractats amb normalitat, sense drames tr\u00e0gics al centre del conflicte de l\u2019obra. Si b\u00e9 en alguna ocasi\u00f3 Dragman s\u2019ha d\u2019enfrontar amb personatges tr\u00e0nsfobs, Appleby posa el focus en els entorns segurs i les relacions que normalitzen la seva identitat.<\/p><p>D\u2019aquesta manera, el punt fort de <i>Dragman <\/i>es troba clarament en els seus personatges, plens de clarobscurs i vulnerabilitats. <b>Steven Appleby \u00e9s considerada una il\u00b7lustradora absurdista<\/b>, i aix\u00f2 es reflecteix en la manera com els conflictes de la narrativa es desenvolupen. No ens emocionem a trav\u00e9s de grans gestes, sin\u00f3 que <b>ens trobem properes a la hist\u00f2ria per la nuesa i les contradiccions dels personatges<\/b>. Els problemes no suposen un abans i un despr\u00e9s trascendental en la vida del protagonista, simplement s\u00f3n situacions a les quals \u00e9s necessari enfrontar-se. I \u00e9s precisament aquest espai tan petit que l\u2019autora deixa entre la vida de Crimp i la nostra, entre les vinyetes i la nostra realitat, <b>que ens fa viure aquesta hist\u00f2ria com a possible, real i natural<\/b> (si \u00e9s que els conceptes de <i>real <\/i>i <i>natural <\/i>signifiquen alguna cosa). Una hist\u00f2ria de confusi\u00f3, revelaci\u00f3, &#8220;normalitat&#8221; i acceptaci\u00f3.<\/p><p>Cal parar atenci\u00f3 tamb\u00e9 a l\u2019afegit <i>Jo no s\u00f3c l\u2019August Crimp<\/i>, una carta de l\u2019autora on explica la seva experi\u00e8ncia amb el travestisme i la viv\u00e8ncia trans*. Per una part, entenc que l\u2019autora va voler incloure aquest escrit per <b>evitar l\u2019especulaci\u00f3 de paral\u00b7lelismes entre la seva obra i la seva vida<\/b>: explicant-la de manera transparent mostra que no s\u2019amaga rere cap personatge. La seva explicaci\u00f3 \u00e9s natural, divertida i poc tr\u00e0gica, segueix el to de tot el llibre. I un valor afegit: tenim poques viv\u00e8ncies publicades de gent trans* i de g\u00e8nere flu\u00efd fora de la literatura de no-ficci\u00f3 especialitzada. Aix\u00ed, \u00e9s tot un regal que en un c\u00f2mic de ficci\u00f3 que surt a la venda dins el mercat generalista hi puguem trobar aquesta joieta autobiogr\u00e0fica, que<b> posa en<\/b> <b>entredit el binarisme de g\u00e8nere imperant socialment<\/b>.<\/p><p>Per acabar, nom\u00e9s em resta recomanar-vos la lectura de <i>Dragman<\/i> per als mesos que venen, preferiblement assegudes en alguna butaca o sof\u00e0 c\u00f2modes i acompanyades d\u2019un bon t\u00e8 (o la vostra beguda d\u2019elecci\u00f3). \u00c9s una lectura senzilla, <b>que enganxa per\u00f2 no fa patir. <\/b>El cels ennuvolats de la ciutat on transcorre tot plegat casaran perfectament amb la temporada de tardor. L&#8217;estat d\u2019\u00e0nim dels personatges, <b>existencialista i absurd<\/b>, encaixar\u00e0 molt b\u00e9 quan el sol no brilli tan fort. I quan veieu el c\u00f2mic, que no us n\u2019espanti la llargada: les seves p\u00e0gines, igual que en Dragman, <b>passen volant<\/b>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-33 elementor-top-column elementor-element
